Game Payment Technology (GPT) has successfully demonstrated the use of the Game Payment app to pay and play basketball and air hockey machines in the arcade at Brighton Palace Pier.
As the lockdown restrictions begin to ease over the coming months, GPT is keen to support the amusement industry, which has taken a huge hit during the coronavirus pandemic. The decline in the use of cash was already having an impact before the pandemic. It is now more important than ever to address this decline in order to help the amusements industry get back on its feet.
Mike Brocklehurst from Brighton Palace Pier commented: “We’re certainly seeing that cash is going by the wayside. We’re hoping more and more for contactless payments and we’ve got to find a solution to help our customers play our games. Game Payment provides that for us.”
Game Payment was shortlisted as one of five companies competing for the Best Start-Up Innovation Award at the Merchant Payments Ecosystem event. The demonstration was live streamed to 700 audience members, who then voted for their winner. GPT received enthusiastic feedback but were beaten by a payments solution for the travel industry.
During the presentation, GPT director John Rozek stated: “We are currently live in 90 pub venues, which includes four of the six top UK pub chains. A number of the leading British arcades are installing the solution now ready for use post-lockdown. We all look forward to the end of the lockdown restrictions and the exciting future ahead for GPT.”
The recording from the live demo at Brighton Palace Pier is available on the GPT website and social media channels. Find out more about Game Payment Technology here: www.gamepayment.technology and follow @gamepaymenttech on Twitter to stay up to date with all the latest developments.
